There is something about October on the farm. A shift that happens that is kind of magical. It starts with the oppressive humidity of summer easing and then disappearing. Nights begin to cool and there is a crispness in the air in the early morning hours. It is like a gift bestowed for weathering the wilting heat of summer.

Best of all, October brings a whole new vista of color to the farm. The brilliant yellows, oranges, and reds slowly build until every corner is touched with autumn’s palette. It is hard to explain, but it always brings a peace and stillness that my soul craves. October is my favorite.
