Farm Dad and I had the opportunity to have dinner with a very accomplished group of people recently. There was discussion of advanced degrees, great achievements and acclaim. I was, simply put, out of my element. I am well educated, but any advanced degrees have come from the school of hard knocks. I have spent my career doing the thing I have always wanted to do…be a wife and mother. It is the best and hardest thing I have ever done and I would choose this path again, if I could redo things. I was a mystery to the kind people at our table. They were obviously trying to imagine what I could possibly do all day. Finally, one gentleman spoke up and said, “Ahh, you must oversee the workings and employees of your farm.” I managed to keep and straight face and respond affirmatively. He would be quite alarmed at the small size and lack of employees at Grawly Bear Farm.
